The propriety of agencies' paying employees for travel expenses between temporary duty stations and official stations for weekends or other nonworkdays was questioned. If the agency has determined that the cost of reimbursing employees on extended temporary duty for travel between the temporary duty station and the official station on nonworkdays is outweighed by savings in employee efficiency and productivity, the cost of such travel may be considered a necessary expense, and such employees are entitled to reimbursement.
