Highlights

A decision was requested as to whether an employee's mother is a dependent parent for purposes of relocation allowances. Since the mother is dependent upon her daughter to maintain a reasonable standard of living, she may be considered a dependent parent for relocation allowance purposes. Internal Revenue Service standards for dependency do not determine entitlement under the Federal Travel Regulations.
