Highlights

An advance decision was requested regarding an employee's claim for expenses incurred when he elected to stay in a hotel upon return from temporary duty due to the late hour of his arrival by train and the lack of public transportation to his residence some distance away. The employee, who was authorized per diem while performing temporary duty, was entitled to be reimbursed the cost of his hotel lodging in lieu of taxicab fare to his residence, but reimbursement should not exceed the maximum taxicab fare otherwise allowable.
