Highlights

A decision was requested regarding an employee's claim for subsistence expenses incurred while he and his family occupied temporary quarters incident to his transfer of official station from Japan to the United States. The employee was entitled to temporary quarters subsistence expenses while occupying temporary quarters at both his old and his new duty stations, computed on the basis of consecutive calendar days by excluding the time for travel from the old to the new duty station from the computation of the authorized period and the 10-day periods for determining the maximum amount allowable. However, the employee's claim for subsistence expenses while occupying temporary quarters in the foreign area incident to the transfer should be reduced by the amount of temporary lodging allowance received during the period of his claim.
