In Fiscal Year 2005, Congress amended the Antideficiency Act to require that agencies and the mayor of D.C. must send a copy of every Antideficiency Act report to GAO on the same day that a report is transmitted to Congress. The accompanying Senate report directed GAO to establish a central repository of Antideficiency Act reports.
GAO has created a database that summarizes each report, displays information such as the submitting agency, dollar amount reported, and a brief synopsis of the circumstances surrounding the Antideficiency Act violation. In addition, users can download each report in PDF format by clicking on the hyperlink in the database.
The Antideficiency Act web page also contains a link titled "Antideficiency Act Background," which details prohibited actions under the law, recent changes to the law, and its penalties. The link also contains a detailed description of the reporting requirements imposed by the law and a link to instructions to agencies on how to send copies of reports to GAO, either by email or postal mail. The database currently lists reports received by GAO in Fiscal Year 2005. Interested persons can be notified of future filings by subscribing to daily email updates for Comptroller General Decisions.

Washington (January 2, 2006) The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is launching a new executive exchange program that offers private-sector employees a unique opportunity to work on high-profile projects to help transform how GAO and the federal government do business. Beginning January 1, 2006, up to 30 executives and mid-level employees with backgrounds in accounting, auditing, finance, information technology, economics, law, and other specialties as well as general managerial skills will be detailed to GAO to consult on assignments ranging from three months to one year.
