Savings Available by Revising the Mail Transportation System at Camp Zama, Japan

A survey of the military postal system at Camp Zama, Japan, showed that there were possibilities for savings through revision of the mail transportation system. There are two daily truck runs to Yokota Air Base from the camp, one to pick up and the other to deliver mail. These could be combined at a 50-percent savings. Mail destined for Hardy Barracks could be delivered directly by the Air Force from Yokota Air Base, eliminating contract costs of about $40,000 annually.
