A decision was requested concerning the number of hours of pay certain employees were entitled to for the holidays of Christmas, December 25, 1976, and New Years Day, January 1, 1977, both of which fell on Saturday and were observed on the preceding Friday. Employees scheduled to work 4 hours on the Fridays observed as holidays were entitled to holiday premium pay only for the hours they worked (4 hours). Employees scheduled to work 8 hours on the Friday holidays were entitled to holiday premium pay only for those hours remaining in the basic 40-hour workweek and were entitled to overtime pay for hours worked in excess of the basic workweek.
