National Transportation Safety Board The Chairman of the Board should require the Safety Recommendation and Communication team to fully document its evaluations when assessing items to propose for Most Wanted List consideration (Recommendation 1).

GAO has reviewed the standard criterion developed and used by NTSB in the development of its 2021-2022 Most Wanted List. As of February 2022, NTSB was still in the process of formally establishing these criterion and documentation requirements of its evaluations in a Board Order. Once finalized, GAO will review NTSB's Board Order to determine if it addresses our recommendation.
