Defrayal of Printing and Binding Expenses

Highlights

GAO was asked to review whether it was in violation of federal law for government agencies to defray the expenses of printing and binding of Volume 1 of the Standard Commodity Classification.

GAO found that the cost of printing borne by the War Production Board was paid from the Urgent Deficiency Appropriation Act, 1943 and the National War Agencies Appropriation Act, 1944, in which each includes a provision about printing and binding. According to these provisions, there appears to be no violation of law in the defrayal of the expense incurred for printing and binding the said publication.
