The Veterans Administration (VA) requested a decision regarding an employee's claim for reimbursement for temporary quarters lodging expenses at her permanent duty station while away on official business and for lodging and subsistence expenses for the official travel. VA contended that the claimant could not claim temporary quarters expenses on days for which she received payment for official travel. GAO held that both lodging expenses were reimbursable provided VA determined that the claimant acted reasonably in retaining temporary quarters at her permanent duty station. Accordingly, the claim was allowed.
