REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER OF FEBRUARY 29, 1956, REQUESTING FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF A CLAIM FILED BY MR. L. ABRAMOVITZ FOR L.E. 6,000, ALLEGED TO BE DUE HIM AS THE VALUE OF CERTAIN SALVAGE PROPERTY WHICH WAS SOLD BY THE UNITED STATES AT CAMP ATAKA, SUEZ, EGYPT, TO MR. FRANK H.S. WALLER AND BY MR. WALLER TO MR. ABRAMOVITZ, AND WHICH PROPERTY WAS THEREAFTER MISTAKENLY SOLD BY THE UNITED STATES TO MR. D. XENOPHON, SUEZ, EGYPT. WE ALSO HAVE YOUR LETTER OF MAY 2, 1956, REPORTING THE DEATH OF MR. ABRAMOVITZ ON FEBRUARY 19, 1949, AND TRANSMITTING COPIES OF CERTAIN DECREES BY THE DISTRICT COURT OF TEL A VIV RELATING TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE ESTATE OF THE DECEASED, TOGETHER WITH THE ORIGINAL AND A PHOTOSTATIC COPY OF A POWER OF ATTORNEY AUTHORIZING MAURICE M. BOUKSTEIN, ESQUIRE, AND YOURSELF TO REPRESENT THE HEIRS IN THIS MATTER.

UPON CONSIDERATION OF ALL THE FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES SHOWN BY THE RECORD BEFORE US, WE CONCLUDE THAT THE CLAIM HEREIN IS PROPERLY ALLOWABLE IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $18,317.08, CONSISTING OF THE SUM OF $15,014 ADMINISTRATIVELY DETERMINED TO BE THE VALUE OF THE PROPERTY SOLD BY MR. WALLER TO MR. ABRAMOVITZ AND IMPROPERLY DELIVERED BY THE UNITED STATES TO A LATER PURCHASER, PLUS 22 PERCENT THEREOF--- $3,303.08--- AS CUSTOMS DUTIES PAID BY MR. ABRAMOVITZ THEREON. SETTLEMENT WILL BE STATED IN FAVOR OF LEA ABRAMOVITZ AND ZVI ABRAMOVITZ UPON RECEIPT OF YOUR CONSENT ON THEIR BEHALF TO ACCEPT THAT AMOUNT AS IN FULL SETTLEMENT OF THIS CLAIM.
