Information on the number of male, female, or Jewish Americans working on military or military-related projects in Saudi Arabia was requested, with a breakdown by employer and activity, as well as information on any agreements between American Government agencies and private firms.
As of August 5, 1976, there were 315 military and 316 civilian Government personnel working in Saudi Arabia. Of the total of 631, 64 were female. The number of Jews could not be determined, as this information is not collected. These numbers will increase in fiscal year (FY) 1978 to 1,429, plus dependents. Military contractor personnel are projected at 3,429 for FY 1978. Many more Americans work in Saudi Arabia; the U.S. Consulate at Dhahran estimates a total of 25,000 American residents. (DJM)
