A review of the effect of the energy situation on rural areas indicated that energy changes since 1973 have not derailed nonmetropolitan economic growth. Analysis of the 1967 to 1972 period and of the 1972 to 1975 years showed rapid growth in nonmetropolitan areas, with growth accelerated during the latter three years.
