The Selective Service System requested an advance decision regarding an employee's claim for back pay incident to her assignment to and performance of duties at a higher-grade position. GAO held that the: (1) claimant was only due the salary for her appointed position; (2) back pay was not generally available as a remedy for misassignments to higher duties or improper classifications; and (3) it had no jurisdiction over the claimant's allegation that she received disparate treatment. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
