Highlights

The Department of Energy (DOE) requested a decision concerning whether an employee was entitled to reimbursement for the disallowed portion of expenses he incurred in the sale of his residence incident to his transfer. GAO held that DOE should use the assessed value to determine the appropriate reimbursement, rather than the values shown in the real estate listing agreement. Accordingly, DOE should reimburse 99 percent of the costs the employee incurred in the sale of his residence.
