The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) requested reconsideration of a GAO recommendation for corrective action pursuant to a successful protest against a DLA solicitation for crank handles. GAO had held that DLA improperly awarded the contract to another firm, and recommended that DLA terminate the awardee's contract. In its request for reconsideration, DLA contended that it would not be in the government's interest to terminate the contract, since the awardee had almost completed the contract work. GAO held that: (1) DLA should not terminate the awarded contract; and (2) DLA should reimburse the protester for its bid and protest preparation costs. Accordingly, the recommendation was withdrawn.
