Disallowance of Claim for Death Gratuity Benefits

Highlights

The parents of Captain Frederick M. Hall requested reconsideration of a settlement which awarded the member's spouse 6 months' death gratuity and arrears of pay due. The parents felt that they were the proper recipients because the member's spouse remarried before determination of presumptive death had been made. The request for reconsideration was denied because the member was survived by a spouse, and had specifically designated his spouse as beneficiary.
