AFMD-82-104: Published: Sep 23, 1982. Publicly Released: Sep 23, 1982.
- Full Report:
The Comptroller General is required by law to audit the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a federally chartered, privately funded, nonprofit corporation established by Congress to advance the interests of injured and disabled American veterans. However, a certified public accounting firm audited the DAV financial statements for 1981 and, to avoid duplication and unnecessary expense, GAO reviewed the firm's workpapers and audit report to determine the quality of its work.
GAO found nothing to indicate that the certified public accounting firm's opinion on the DAV financial statements is inappropriate or cannot be relied on. GAO concurred with and transmitted to Congress the firm's opinion and the DAV National Headquarters' financial statements.
