[Protest of DISC Rejection of Bid for Metallic Particle Detectors]
B-271587: Jul 8, 1996
- Full Report:
A firm protested the Defense Industrial Supply Center's (DISC) rejection of its bid for metallic particle detectors, contending that DISC unduly delayed forwarding its source approval request to the Navy, and as a result, the Navy did not have sufficient time to complete its evaluation prior to the award date. GAO held that: (1) DISC reasonably determined that the protester's alternate product was technically unacceptable; (2) the protester's technical data package did not contain sufficient information for source approval; and (3) any delay in submitting the technical data package to the Navy was the result of DISC reasonable attempts to secure missing information from the protester. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
