A Customs Service employee claimed reimbursement for food and incidental expenses he incurred while away from his official duty station. GAO held that: (1) the employee's temporary duty lasted for more than 10 hours on each occasion; (2) although the employee's permanent duty station included the plane he piloted to the temporary duty locations, he incurred the expenses away from the plane; and (3) the employee was entitled to reimbursement for those items not consumed on the plane. Accordingly, the claim was partially allowed.
