A civilian Navy employee claimed reimbursement for lodging expenses she incurred incident to official travel, contending that: (1) she had received permission to return during her regular duty hours on the Mondays following her assignments; and (2) her cost of lodging on Sunday night was no more than she was authorized to incur on Friday night. GAO held that the employee was only entitled to what would have been payable if she had begun the return travel following the completion of her assignment, since she delayed her return trip in order to travel during her regular duty hours. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
