[Labor Employee's Request for Indebtedness Waiver]
B-252521: Jan 21, 1994
- Full Report:
A Labor employee requested reconsideration of his denied waiver of indebtedness for a deferred annuity he erroneously received while continuing temporary employment. GAO had held that the annuity should have been deducted from the employee's pay, since he was a temporary employee. In his request for reconsideration, the employee contended that he was: (1) unaware of the overpayment until the General Services Administration notified him of the error; and (2) informed that his temporary pay was not subject to an annuity reduction. GAO held that the employee should have known that the error existed and taken action to have it corrected. Accordingly, the prior decision was affirmed.
