A firm protested an Army purchase order for ablative coating kits, contending that the Army failed to consider its acceptable alternate product. GAO held that the Army: (1) properly determined that the protester's alternate product was unacceptable; and (2) was not required to consider a new unapproved product as an alternate item. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
