Highlights

The National Finance Center requested a decision concerning an employee's claim for reimbursement of real estate expenses incurred incident to the sale of his residence after he reported for duty at a new station. The claimant contended that, since his transfer did not become final until his equal employment opportunity complaint was resolved 2 years later, the 3-year settlement limitation period did not become effective until that time. GAO held that the claimant was not entitled to reimbursement for real estate expenses, since he failed to sell his residence at his old duty station within 3 years after he reported to his new duty station. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
