A firm protested the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) rejection of its bid as nonresponsible for building renovation, contending that VA failed to: (1) specify why its sureties were unacceptable; and (2) allow it an adequate opportunity to correct its bid deficiencies. GAO held that VA properly rejected the protester's bid, since there were discrepancies in the sureties' claimed assets and doubts about their integrity and the credibility of their representations. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
