- Full Report:
GAO commented on a proposed revision to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-125 that would require agencies to make payments on Friday if the payment fell due on Saturday and permit payments on the next business day if a payment fell due on a Sunday or holiday. GAO believes that: (1) this practice would avoid unnecessary confusion and mistakes, and would ensure greater equity between the government and its vendors; and (2) OMB should state that whenever a prompt-payment-related deadline fell on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the agency should make the payment without adverse legal consequence on the next working day.
