[Protest of Air Force Solicitation for Bearing Cages]
B-231733: Sep 16, 1988
- Full Report:
A firm protested an Air Force solicitation for bearing cages, contending that the Air Force improperly reduced existing quality control standards for the equipment. GAO held that the Air Force properly used less stringent standards, since they: (1) reflected the government's minimum needs; and (2) enhanced competition. GAO would not consider the protester's suggestion that the Air Force amend its current contract for the same equipment, since that was a matter of contract administration. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
