Highlights

A retired Air Force Reserve member appealed a Claims Group determination of his claim for backpay and allowances for an alleged period of service from 1943 to 1952 for which he did not receive credit upon his transfer to the Retired Reserve in 1966. GAO held that: (1) GAO must receive a claim within 6 years from the date it first accrued; and (2) since the claimant furnished no evidence of military records, besides an erroneously issued identification card, he had not established that he performed creditable military reserve service for the period in question. Accordingly, the Claims Group's settlement was sustained.
