Two companies protested the decision of the Naval Supply Center, Norfolk, Virginia, to cancel a solicitation for the procurement of microfilming services. The original invitation for bids provided that the successful bidder must have a producing facility within 50 miles of the Naval station. Upon review of the bids, the contracting officer decided that it would be in the best interest of the Government to cancel the solicitation and resolicit with an expanded road mile requirement of 500 miles. The decision to cancel and readvertise requirements arising from reasonable expectation of broadened competition under relaxed restrictions cannot be questioned. The protests were denied.
