A low bidder did not receive a contract awarded by the Army because the firm refused to grant the Government a 30-day extension of its bid acceptance period. The firm's protest was dismissed as untimely by GAO. However, a reconsideration of the GAO decision was requested by the protesting firm, which contended that its protest raised significant issues. GAO did not agree that the matter might be of such widespread interest in the procurement community as to warrant reconsideration. Since it is not illegal for the Government to request bid extensions, GAO reaffirmed its previous decision.
