Reimbursement for Expense of Breaking Lease Incident to Change of Station

An advance decison was requested as to whether an employee may be reimbursed for the expense of breaking a lease incident to a permanent change of duty station from Canada to the United States. According to regulations, such reimbursement is allowed only for employees whose old and new duty stations are located within the United States, its territories and possessions, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the Canal Zone.
