Proposed Revision of the Uniform State/AID/USIA Foreign Service Travel Regulations
B-176759: Oct 30, 1972
- Full Report:
The Department of State requested concurrence in a proposed revision of departmental travel regulations which would permit reimbursement to an employee for the return travel expenses of a spouse and children transported overseas at Government expense although the couple had divorced prior to the time the employee became eligible for return travel. Current regulations recognize an obligation on the part of the Government to return children of an employee who were transported overseas for the convenience of the Government although they turned 21 and ceased to be dependents of the employee by the time he became eligible for return travel. The proposed regulation would extend this principle to other members of an employee's family whose transportation to the overseas post was at Government expense.
