Termination of Contract Because of Error in Bid Prices

A decision was requested concerning action to be taken on a contract for which bid prices were in error. The contracting officer was on constructive notice of a possible mistake and should have requested verification of prices which were different from the price bid on the same item elsewhere in the solicitation and were considerably lower than those of the next low bidder. However, since intended bid prices were not clearly proven, rescission rather than reformation of the contract would be permissible.
