Request for Waiver of Overpayment of Salary

A federal employee appealed the denial of his application for waiver of the claim by the United States against him for overpayment of salary. The employee, who received dual compensation for overtime, could not be granted a waiver for the overpayment because the earnings statements furnished to him would have indicated an overpayment to a reasonably prudent employee. The employee was therefore at fault for failure to call the matter to the attention of the proper officials.
