Highlights

The propriety of paying an employee who is stationed aboard a seagoing hopper dredge for temporary quarters subsistence expenses, real estate expenses, and travel expenses was questioned. Since there is no requirement that the temporary quarters subsistence expenses are incurred in the vicinity of the duty station, the employee may be reimbursed even though those expenses were incurred elsewhere. The place where the family resides is the residence eligible for reimbursement of real estate expenses; the employees' claim for reimbursement of real estate expense may be allowed. He may not, however, be reimbursed for travel expenses from a hospital to his residence.
