Effective Date of Increased Per Diem and Mileage Rates Authorized Under Travel Expense Amendments Act of 1975

An advance decision was requested concerning per diem and mileage rates to be used for temporary duty travel authorized before the enactment of the Travel Expense Amendments Act of 1975 but performed on or after the effective date of the act. A Temporary Regulation amending the Federal Travel Regulations by increasing the maximum per diem and mileage rates for official travel was issued on the date of the act's enactment. Therefore, an employee who was issued a blanket travel order prior to the date of enactment was entitled to the higher per diem and mileage rates for travel on and after the date of enactment of the act since such rates were mandatory.
