The agency recommended that the contract be reformed to delete two items from a contract based on a mistake in bid alleged after award. Where the purchaser's bid for the two items in the surplus property sale exceeded acquisition prices by about 150 percent and 520 percent respectively and far exceeded the next highest bids, the contracting officer was on constructive notice of the possibility of an error in the bids. Since the contracting officer did not request verification of the bid prior to award, the contract may be reformed by deleting the items.
