GAO commented on the propriety of reimbursing a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration employee for airfare to his vacation point when his annual leave was cancelled due to an emergency. GAO held that an employee who was recalled to duty after departing on annual leave could not be reimbursed for travel expenses to his leave destination, since the airfare was a personal expense. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
