From the U.S. Government Accountability Office, www.gao.gov Transcript for: FraudNet/Reporting Fraud Description: Help fight waste, fraud and abuse with GAO's FraudNet. This video discusses how you improve government operations by reporting waste, abuse or mismanagement of federal funds with GAO's FraudNet. February 2012 [ Wayne McElrath, Director, Forensic Audits & Investigative Service ] FraudNet is a hotline GAO developed to help the public report concerns about federal programs. Every year, we get hundreds of anonymous tips on everything from security violations to contract, grant, and health care fraud from anonymous or confidential sources that provide their identity. And those tips do get results—leading in improvements in government operations, changes in the law, and even criminal prosecutions. FraudNet has a toll-free number, an e-mail address, and a dedicated fax line. GAO doesn't ask for the names of anyone contacting us, but the more detail a tipster can provide the better. [ Gene Dodaro, Comptroller General of the United States ] We encourage anyone with knowledge or suspicions of fraud and abuse to contact GAO’s FraudNet. Now more than ever, holding government accountable depends on the willingness of citizens to speak up. To contact Fraudnet, send an e-mail to Fraudnet@GAO.GOV. You can also call 1.800.424.5454 or send a fax 202.512.3086. You can also mail a letter to GAO FRAUDNET at 441 G STREET, NW, MAILSTOP 4T21, WASHINGTON, DC 20548. Working together, we can ensure that government is held accountable, operates efficiently, and in the best interest of all tax payers.
