Released: December 2025 [Text On-Screen] So many folks come to Congress promising to stop waste, fraud, and abuse and run headfirst into a brick wall. Never saving taxpayers a single penny. Gene Dodaro is different. Under Gene's leadership as the Comptroller General of the United States for the last 15 years. The Government Accountability Office provided invaluable insights and analysis for improving the efficiency and reducing the cost of government. As chair of the Senate DOGE Caucus, I have relied on GAO's work as a blueprint for many of our efforts to downsize the government. I've teamed up with GAO to identify unused and unneeded buildings and office space to sell off. We are working together to end secret spending by making sure every taxpayer dollar spent by Washington is publicly disclosed on USA spending. And of course, we all look forward to reading the most highly anticipated report released every year in Washington GAO's annual duplication report. The recommendations from this ongoing effort have resulted in $725 billion in savings for our taxpayers. That's real money, folks, and it's a legacy to be proud of. As Gene's term concludes at the end of this year, I wish Gene the best and congratulate him on an amazing career and on behalf of taxpayers in Iowa and across the nation. I will keep fighting in the Senate to achieve even more savings from the impressive work produced by Gene's team at GAO. [ End ] For more info, check out: GAO.gov
