David Gootnick

David Gootnick is a Director in GAO’s International Affairs and Trade team. He oversees the Development and Humanitarian Assistance portfolio, including global health issues and international disaster assistance. He also leads work on Insular Affairs including the Compacts of Free Association between the U.S. and Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.

David joined GAO in September 2001. Prior to GAO he served as the Director of Medical Services at Peace Corps, Director of Student Health Services at New York University, and as a practicing physician.

David earned an M.D. degree from the University of Rochester and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University.
