First-time User Advice
- Maximize the browser viewing area. (In Windows 3.1 click the up pointing arrow button at
the top right of the browser window.)
- Eliminate as many of the tool bars as possible. (In Netscape uncheck all the button bar
choices in the option menu. If you click with your right mouse button you will see a menu
providing basic navigation choices. Pressing the "Alt" and "left
arrow" keys at the same time will also back you up to where you came from.
Experienced users often prefer to customize the tool bars to their personal preference.
This is only a suggestion until you learn the program.)
- The display fonts can also be changed in the option menu general preferences. While this
may make for easier reading it could also change some of the tables elsewhere in the
document.
- Clicking on words at the left of the screen will take the user to that section of the
guide.
- Words in a different color in the body of the document are hypertext links that will
either take you to that page or that location on the World Wide Web. (The color of the
link depends on how you have customized your browser.)
- When the "Practices Menu" section is entered a new menu appears in the menu
frame, This allows experienced users to go directly to the practice by
number. There are is also a link to a "Brief Description" of the practices
"return to the introductory menu frame." Users who are less familiar with BPR to
see a menu of the practices with more detailed descriptions.
- The bar between the menu section frame and the main body of the document can be resized
by dragging the bar with the mouse. This will allow the users to adjust the size of the
window to better fit their individual hardware and software.
- A feature which should be noted is there are one click links between this document and
the sources cited when they appear in the color of the link below.
