In response to a congressional mandate contained in the 2008 reauthorization of the Native
American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA), GAO is conducting
a review of NAHASDA. As part of this review, we are surveying all Native American tribes
and tribally designated housing entities (TDHEs) nationwide that received NAHASDA Indian
Housing Block Grant (IHBG) funds in 2008, and asking them to complete a questionnaire.
Specifically, we are asking NAHASDA grantees (tribes and TDHEs) about their experiences
with and perspectives on the program.
If your entity is a TDHE, please respond to the questions as they relate
to your TDHE. Most questions pertain to the IHBG although some grantees may also have
experience with the NAHASDA Title VI loan guarantee.
Please feel free to confer with other knowledgeable individuals or review records in
order to answer any question in the questionnaire.
Please complete this questionnaire within 2 weeks of receipt. We understand
there are great demands on your time; however, your cooperation is critical to providing
the Congress with complete and balanced information on the effectiveness of NAHASDA.
Thank you for your time and assistance!
