Humane Methods of Slaughter Act: USDA Inspectors' Views on Enforcement (GAO-10-244SP), February 2010, an E-supplement to GAO-10-203

Introduction

  The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has been asked by Congress to examine the challenges FSIS faces in inspecting and enforcing humane livestock handling laws and regulations. As part of our study, GAO is surveying a random, nationwide sample of Inspectors in Charge at establishments that conduct slaughter. You have been randomly selected to participate, and results will help inform Congress about the challenges that inspectors face as well as potential solutions.
