Highlights

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO evaluated the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) Charge Data System to determine whether it provided EEOC with accurate, complete, and current data. GAO found that some EEOC district offices reported that the system: (1) could not transfer automated charge records directly from one field office to another; (2) did not allow district offices to access the data of their subsidiary offices; and (3) contained data inaccuracies and other operational problems. GAO noted that: (1) it had to perform more work and analysis before it could make conclusions concerning the quality of the system; and (2) EEOC was developing the capability for district offices to obtain automated information on the work load of their subsidiary offices.
