Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the total dollar value of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) grants and agreements for fiscal years 1993 through 1995. GAO noted that: (1) from FY 1993 to FY 1995, EPA awarded grants and entered into agreements totalling $11.1 billion; and (2) while the $11.1 billion in grants and agreements went to 4,021 grantees, the largest distributions went to local and state government agencies.
