Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contract awarded on September 28, 1992. GAO found that: (1) two EPA divisions have issued work assignments against the contract; (2) the contractor is working on voluntary and nonregulatory programs for preventing pollution, including reducing greenhouse gases through market-enhancing programs for one EPA division; and (3) the contractor is working on programs to protect the atmosphere's ozone layer for the other division.
