GAO reviewed the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) implementation of the Three Mile Island Action Plan to improve the operation and regulation of commercial nuclear facilities and the progress made by utility companies that operate nuclear power plants.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission To inform Congress on utilities' and NRC progress in implementing the Three Mile Island Action Plan, the Chairman, NRC, should report to Congress a one-time, item-by-item accounting of the 176 items listed in the Action Plan.
Closed – Implemented
On January 23, 1987, the Chairman, NRC, submitted its staff report to Congress, entitled One Time Report to Congress on TMI Items. The report addresses the 176 items listed in the Three Mile Island Action Plan and informs Congress on the utilities' and NRC progress in implementing the plan.
