Highlights

The Department of Defense's study of the feasibility of relocating the research, development, and test and evaluation mission and functions of the National Parachute Test Range (NPTR) was reviewed. The study's findings that substantial savings would result from relocating to other existing facilities were confirmed. Figures based on adjustments to the study showed that annual operating savings would be $2.6 million plus a one-time savings of $1.7 million from the transfer of excess NPTR equipment. The one-time cost of relocation would be $3.1 million which would be recovered from the savings in less than 1 year.
