Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) new rule on the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network. GAO noted that: (1) the rule would establish performance goals to be achieved by the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network to improve the effectiveness and equity of the nation's transplantation system; and (2) HRSA complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
